Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how PIPA ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects personal data when you visit pipa.wine, request a demo, or interact with our AI sommelier interface deployed at one of our partner restaurants. We process personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Portuguese law.
1. Who we are
PIPA is operated from Portugal. For any data protection question, contact us at hello@pipa.wine.
2. What data we collect
- Demo requests: name, restaurant or hotel, role, email, phone, and the message you send us.
- Guest interactions: when guests use PIPA at a partner restaurant, we process the conversation content (text and photos of wine labels) needed to generate recommendations. We do not collect names, emails or phone numbers from guests.
- Technical data: minimal logs (timestamp, language, anonymised session id) used for service reliability.
3. Why we process it
- To respond to demo requests and contact you about PIPA (legitimate interest / pre-contractual measures).
- To deliver the AI sommelier service to our restaurant partners (contract performance).
- To improve our recommendation quality, in aggregated and anonymised form (legitimate interest).
- To comply with legal obligations.
4. Sharing & sub-processors
We use carefully selected sub-processors to host our infrastructure and run the language model that powers PIPA. We do not sell personal data and we do not share a restaurant's wine list, guest profiles or conversations with other restaurants or third parties.
5. Retention
Demo request data is kept for as long as needed to evaluate and pursue a commercial relationship, and up to 24 months thereafter. Guest interaction data is kept by the restaurant according to the agreement we have with them and can be deleted on request.
6. Your rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw any consent. To exercise these rights, email hello@pipa.wine. You may also lodge a complaint with the Portuguese Data Protection Authority (CNPD).
7. Cookies
pipa.wine uses only strictly necessary technical storage (e.g. saving your language preference). We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
8. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
